Farreando toda la Semana!
It has been a pretty exciting week!
Tuesday, we had our first little zone meeting in Leticia!
Even though the zone leaders only shared a short message before the district
meeting, it was still awesome. Sometimes it is hard to be in charge of the
meetings every week, without ever getting a training or meeting from someone
else. After the meetings, I ate ceviche for lunch woo! Then, we left on
divisions with the ZL’s! We had a great day, with lots of lessons and new
investigators, and we finished by eating pizza together.
On Thursday, we had our district’s first Weekly Planning
Party! So basically we just went to the church, started with a little message
about how we can love more as we plan, and split up to different rooms to plan.
Then we shared some snacks (from the district fund!). And, that night, we had
the branch’s first weekly sport night! We planned it in consejo on Sunday, and
it was a great success. We had less actives, investigators, the branch
presidency, and tons of people, and played a few fun matches of micro soccer. Tons showed up, even though it had rained
right before! So that will be something great to keep animating the branch.
On Saturday, I had my first baptism interview in forever!
But she probably won’t get baptized haha. To let me explain, J is a
member here in Leticia, but they couldn’t find her church records. So as they
were making tons of calls and looking through things, they decided that she
might need to get baptized again, to make the new record. However, she was a
little confused about it, and a little discouraged because her non-member mom
was talking bad about the church. So we did the interview, just in case she
needed to be baptized, and we were able to talk a little about her doubts. So
we finished a lot better than before, and found a picture of her baptism so
that she won’t need to get baptized again! So overall, it is a good piece of
news.
Today we spent almost the entire P-day in a branch activity,
it was an awesome time. We got to play sports, and everyone helped to make a
giant sancocho, and we ate a ton! The A family made it to church, with
lots of less actives, new investigators, etc. It was a great time to bond as a
branch, and everyone enjoyed it. I hope that I never have to leave this area!
I am so grateful to be a missionary, and to be able to
represent my Savior here in Colombia. I love Him so much. Every day I try to be
more like Him to bring more people to His gospel. I know that I have many
weaknesses, but I know that through the grace of Jesus Christ, I can surpass
them and leave them behind.
Have a marvelous week!
Love,
Elder Toombs
