On Monday, we went to visit our ward mission leader, Brother
C, for the first time in a while. We mainly passed because we wanted
something to drink haha. But as we were talking, I felt the impression to ask
him for a blessing. He kinda kept talking, and the impression seemed to go
away, and we were in a little bit of a hurry, but I asked him anyway. He seemed
a little surprised. We found out, in his 4 years being a member, he had never
been the person to give a blessing (he had annointed before, but that's all).
So we taught him how, and it ended up being just what I needed; I knew that he
had been guided, and that I had been guided to ask him. It was a great
experience, and he was super happy afterward. It was an incredible feeling.
Later, we went to a less active's house, C M and his family, and had
a great lesson as well. I know that the Spirit really guides us to do God's
work.
On Tuesday, we had a zone meeting! Well it was kinda a zone
meeting, but the rest of the zone is in Bogotá, so we just did it with a phone
call haha, and just the beginning announcements. But it was pretty fun! We talked in the district
meeting about how we can increase and exercise our faith. I know that if we ask
our Heavenly Father for something, asking with faith, it will be given us. Se
we talked about how we need to ask as well. As a district, we are all going to
focus ourselves in having the faith to find future leaders, something that the
Lord needs here in Leticia; I know that he will answer our prayers. Then, that
night, we had a visit with the A family. They are such a loving family,
and L and L are fantastic parents. We have been talking about marriage
with them, and when L told us how L had asked her to marry him, an
incredible feeling entered the room. I know that they will be an incredible
example for all of the other members here in Leticia.
Thursday: 21 Months! Time is going by too fast in the
mission. I an so grateful for this time I have had to serve, and for the time
that still remains. We will see what the President says about an extension
haha.
On Friday, we visited a couple families that live on the
side of the Amazon river, that also have the last name A. We visited
first with F A and his family; as they spoke, I felt a strong
impression that he is going to be one of the leaders that we need in the
branch. We will continue to work hard with them to bring them back again. Then
we visited his mom and dad in the house next door. The Dad, has such a
strong desire to get to the temple and to seal his family. I could feel the
spirit as he opened up to us for the first time and shared with us the many
goals that he has made, and we committed ourselves to help him in every step of
the way.
I know that faith really can move mountains. I know that
when I am exercising my faith, the Spirit guides me to where I need to be, and
tells me what I need to say. And I am so grateful for the guidance that I have
had, and for all the answers that I have received, and I know that I will
continue to be guided for the rest of my life.
Con mucho amor,
Elder Toombs
