Cambios!
Hey everyone! This has been a
pretty cool week, and we were able to get a lot done.
This week we have worked a
lot with the Ward Council. One of the goals that we gave them was to make sure
that every member has a specific assignment before they leave, so this week we
were able to make a couple visits with the Bishop and the 1st counselor. We
visited a family of Recent Converts, the H family, and we were really
able to encourage them to go back to church. We sang them Families Can Be
Together Forever. It is fantastic to see the ward leaders putting themselves to
work.
We have worked a lot this
week with F too, to get him prepared for his baptism! We taught him
everything that he needed, and he just continued to get more and more excited
to be able to be baptized, receive the priesthood, and continue to serve
others.
On Thursday, we had a
trasteo! So because they took the other two missionaries from the ward, we
needed to bring all of the things from their house to ours. There were tons of
tables and desks, and other stuff, so we needed a truck to bring the many
things the 6 blocks to our house, but everything went well, and now we have a
giant tower of desks in our house haha.
The highlight of the week was
Saturday, because F got baptized! The baptism service was great, and we
had a great group of investigators there. After the baptism, when Felipe shared
his testimony, I felt the Spirit so strong; I knew that he had made the
decision from his heart.
On Sunday, F was
confirmed. He chose me at the last second to do it, so I got to do my first
confirmation! It was a great experience, and I know that F is going to be
a fantastic member and leader here in Las Villas. After church, we went with
Camilo to bring the sacrament to a couple members that weren't able to go to
church. It was cool to see their faces when we showed up! They were truly
grateful for what we did for them, and I am grateful for the opportunity that I
had to help them renew their covenants. After that, we went to a baptism
service from another ward that meets in the same building and helped the missionaries
to sing a special number, it was a great time.
In the morning, the Assistants
called and let me know that on Monday, I would be transferred, and that I
needed to be in the airport at 10:30 in the morning! I was transferred to
Leticia, super far away from the rest of the mission. So yesterday I got to
take a cool plane ride and see all of my old area in Las Villas, and two hours
later, got here to Leticia! It is super humid, because inside my area is part
of the Amazon River. And it sometimes just starts to rain, super hard, and out
of nowhere. I am with Elder Maquera again! He was my companion for 2 weeks in
La Mesa, and it is great to be able to be with him again.
I had been praying for the
past few weeks to help the president to know where I needed to go, and I am beginning
to feel that my prayers were answered. I know that I have a purpose to help out
the 4 missionaries here in Leticia, and to help the branch to learn and grow.
My testimony of this church continues to grow daily. The biggest achievement of
my mission up until this point is the personal change in me. I know without a
doubt that I am teaching the Restored Gospel of Jesus Christ, and every day I
try to become more converted to Him. I complete 18 months in my mission
tomorrow, and am extremely grateful for all of the things that I have learned
and all that I will learn as well.
Have a great week!
Elder Toombs
