This has been a pretty interesting week.
On Tuesday night, all of our appointments had fallen
through, so we went to a less active`s house to see if the was there (he is a
police officer, and has lots of weird hours). He was, and we started talking
with him and his wife, and then their kid went to the other room, and the wife
(non-member) immediately told us that they are planning on getting separated.
It was a huge shock; I didn't know what to say at first. So we started to talk
about the family, and about how important it is to God. We set up an
appointment with them the next day, and brought a married couple with us, and
we were able to talk about a lot of things, about how they need to give the
best for their children, and about how they need to involve God in their
relationship. It amazes me how much Satan is attacking families here in
Colombia. Marriage is seen as a bad thing. We were able to pass by last night, and
they told is that everything was getting better.
On Friday, the local government wanted to do a Medical
Brigade to give out free medical care to everyone, but they needed a place to
do it. So we let them use the Church! It was a great experience, we got there
and it was raining, but there were still a ton of people. So we found a table
and some Liahona magazines, set ourselves up outside, and started meeting
people! (All of the rooms inside were occupied). So we stayed a couple hours,
and rotated with the other missionaries, and Saturday in the morning too! We
got to give out lots of learning materials, and there were lots of people
interested in hearing our message (and even more in English class haha), so we
got a bunch of people's numbers and addresses.
Then, later on Saturday, President Lozano, his wife, and the
assistants came down! It was a good time, we were able to do divisions with
them, and then at night, the president invited us to eat dinner in a fancy restaurant!
It was delicious, even though we all got home a little late haha.
On Sunday, the President did a special ward council, and to
not waste time, my companion stayed in the council and I went to do visits with
one of the assistants, Elder S. It was a fun time, and I have been learning
a lot from them.
Monday morning, we went to a fancy hotel to eat breakfast
and have a capacitaión with the President! We also had our interviews, and
realized that it was the last time that we would see the President. He is
finishing his mission at the end of June, and I will probably still be here in
Leticia. I am extremely grateful for everything that the President has done for
me, and for the other missionaries here. I know that God chooses his servants,
ad that President Lozano has been divinely inspired to lead this mission. I
know that the revelation is real, and that we can all know what we need to do
in this life; we just need to ask. I hope you all have a great week!
