September 8, 2014 10 months!

This week has gone pretty well. I love working here in La Mesa, it is a great place, and we have been making some good progress. And I am forgetting more and more of my English haha.

I have been getting used to the new area and meeting a lot of the members here in the past week. Like normal, there are a lot of less actives here, many that don't go just because they are lazy haha. So we have been working with many of them, sometimes they just need a push to get going to church again.

There are also a lot of investigators that we have been working with, but I would say that the most important right now is named Cecilia. She has known the church for like 4-5 years now, but never got baptized because she was in an "union libre" with someone, and needed to get married. Well, they separated, and the guy Yair got baptized a few months ago. Her daughter is a member too. And, although she hadn't gone to church for a while, Elder Perez and I passed by the other week and invited them, and we all went together, and she went again this Sunday, and is super happy with the experiences she has had these two times. I think a baptism is coming soon!

Today we went on the long bus ride to Soacha to play micro again! And we got back in time to write haha. It was super fun, and then we ate hamburgers in the street (that were so-so) for just 75 cents each.

I forgot my agenda, so I don't really remember a lot of what happened this last week. We got 20 lessons (a big improvement from 12 lessons the week before!), and have been working hard to bring more souls to Christ. I know that if we strive with unwearied diligence, God will bless us in his work here in La Mesa! Everybody have a good week!

Love,
Elder Toombs

I (mom) asked Nathan a couple questions, here are his answers:

La Mesa is just one long giant hill, so we always have to walk uphill to get to our appointments haha, and the crest? is narrow, so there are people that live on either side of the flatter part on top, and we have to walk down super steep slopes to get there haha. But it is cool.

We have a washing machine, all of the houses in Tierra Caliente have them (Bogotá is Tierra Fría, so they don't. There I had to rent one every week, we pay like 3 or 4 hours and they bring the mashine to the house haha, even to the 3rd floor). Only the APs have a dryer I have heard. Everyone else needs to hang up their clothes. So in all of my time outside of Bogotá, I have had to iron my shirt every day because I can't just use a sweater to cover the wrinkles haha. Even the "wrinkle free" shirts.
